How CEO Roundtable Helped Me Unlock Growth and Confidence

by

Member Experience Shared By Lisa Tugal, Owner & CEO of Bellwether Bookkeeping

For the first 15 years of running Bellwether Bookkeeping, I was doing it all. Every decision, every client, every challenge, I tackled it alone. As my business grew. I hit a wall. I knew I needed objective advice and peer support, but I didn’t know where to turn.

I met Scott Lewis through another networking group. I admired his quiet, charismatic leadership, and I noticed that others in our circle were part of the CEO Roundtable. I was intrigued when Scott invited me to a quarterly all-hands meeting as a guest. Over the next two and a half years, I attended and took in the conversations and watched how members supported one another.

At the time, I couldn’t justify the investment. Then everything changed. My business took off, and I found myself needing strategic guidance more than ever. I walked up to Scott at the end of a quarterly all-hands and said, “It’s time.” Joining CEO Roundtable was one of the best decisions I’ve made.

The value of this group is hard to quantify because it’s been indispensable. I get honest, actionable advice from people who truly understand the challenges of leading a company. I’ve been exposed to new ideas and insights that I wouldn’t have considered on my own, like how AI could benefit my business.

Perhaps the biggest shift was in my confidence. My peers pushed me to raise my prices. I’d muddled along for years, worried that increasing rates would scare clients away. But when I saw a fellow CEO charging 40% more for the same services, I realized I was undervaluing myself. The group held me accountable, and when I finally raised my rates, not a single client left.

Members often refer to the roundtable experience as “CEO Therapy,” I couldn’t agree more. It’s a space where I can be vulnerable, ask the tough questions, and trust that I’m not alone in this journey. If you’re at a growth point where you feel stuck, take it from me: If you can manage it, it’s worth every penny.
